For now, this is why it was called Bosham:
The name Bosham (locally pronounced "Bozzum") comes from the Old English term Bosanhamm, which dates back to at least 750 AD. It translates to "Bosa's water meadow", likely referring to a meadow owned by an Anglo-Saxon chieftain named Bosa.
